About Davinder J. Singh, MD

Davinder J. Singh, MD, FACS, has joined as Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Dr. Singh opened her clinical practice in Phoenix in 2006 after three years in practice at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Singh received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She received her postgraduate training in General Surgery from Columbia University and in Plastic Surgery from the University of Pennsylvania.

Following residency, Dr. Singh completed a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. During her fellowship, she obtained advanced training in management of cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, facial and jaw anomalies, craniomaxillofacial trauma, hemifacial microsomia, microtia, and vascular anomalies. Following fellowship, she received additional training in orthognathic surgery and distraction osteogenesis of the facial skeleton with the Craniofacial Center in Mexico City. She then joined the faculty at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Singh is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She specializes in craniofacial surgery of infants and children and serves as a Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon at the Barrow Cleft and Craniofacial Center. She has held academic positions including Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mayo School of Medicine. She is a member of American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, International Society of Craniofacial Surgeons, American Society of Craniofacial Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, and American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a faculty member of the AO-North American Craniomaxillofacial Organization. She serves as an Associate Editor for the Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal and is on the Executive Council of the American Society of Craniofacial Surgeons.

Additionally, Dr. Singh is involved in research, publication, and teaching. Her research relates to the management of craniosynostosis and her peer-reviewed research publications include studies on minimizing blood loss in craniosynostosis surgery, pediatric cranioplasty, congenital mandibular hypoplasia, nasal reconstruction, pediatric craniofacial fractures, and squamosal synostosis. Her research interests include development of a multidisciplinary computerized craniofacial database, outcome measures in craniosynostosis surgery, late onset craniosynostosis and speech outcomes in patients with hemifacial microsomia. The Mayo Plastic Surgery Residents rotate with Dr. Singh at Phoenix Children's for their pediatric cleft and craniofacial training. She also serves as a mentor for University of Arizona and Creighton University Medical students.

Dr. Singh's vision is to build a comprehensive academic Division of Plastic Surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital, offering care to children with congenital craniofacial and hand anomalies, craniofacial and hand trauma, and complex reconstructive needs.
