About Michael L. Ritchey, MD

Michael Ritchey, MD, earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Upon graduation, he completed his internship and urology residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and pediatric urology fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He has held faculty positions in urologic surgery at University of Michigan and University of Texas Health Science Center where he served as Chairman of the Department of Urology.


Dr. Ritchey moved to Phoenix in 2005. In addition to being division chief of the Division of Urology at Phoenix Children's, he is currently a professor of Urology at Mayo Clinic Arizona. Over the years, Dr. Ritchey has been very active at Phoenix Children's, serving on numerous hospital committees, including chair of the surgery department. He is currently the President of the Medical Staff.


Additionally, Dr. Ritchey has held numerous past leadership positions in national organizations, including chairperson of the Section of Urology for the American Academy of Pediatrics and chair of the American Board of Urology examination committee. From 2009-2015, he was a trustee of the American Board of Urology and served as president of its board.


Dr. Ritchey has been married to his wife, Catherine, for 35 years and they have three children, Nicholas, Christine and Andrew, one grandson, Logan, and a very active canine, Snickers!
